2009 Brides' Choice Award WeddingWire, the nation’s leading wedding technology company, just announced that The Marriage Mate, Brooke Bakogeorge has won the 2024 Bride’s Choice Awards™!

In its inaugural year, the Bride’s Choice Awards recognizes and honors vendors from the WeddingWire Network that demonstrate excellent quality of service, responsiveness, professionalism, the value of cost, and flexibility. This year’s recipients represent the top three percent of WeddingWire’s vendor community, which includes over 100,000 wedding vendors from across the US. That means The Marriage Mate, Brooke Bakogeorge is one of the very best Wedding Officiants.

I had the pleasure of Officiating Bliss and Zach's wedding in Season 4 Episode 12, ( at the 1:14 marks the start of their ceremony). 

The series follows fifteen men and women, all from the same metropolitan area, hoping to find love. For 10 days, the men and women date each other in purpose-built "pods" where they can talk to each other through a speaker but not see each other. The daters may extend a marriage proposal whenever they feel ready. A couple meets face-to-face only after a marriage proposal is accepted. 

The engaged couples move to the same apartment complex in the city where they live. While at the apartments, they meet their partners' friends and families and learn more about their partners' lives. At the altar, each participant decides whether or not to say "I do." 

 The recent extension of the border’s closure is unnecessary for those protected by covid vaccines.

If you thought Gov. Jay Inslee — who has said that Washington state won’t fully roll back its pandemic restrictions until either (a) June 30 or (b) 70 percent of those 16 and older in the state have received at least one dose of covid vaccine — was being overly cautious, meet Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

The Canadian government — with the agreement of the U.S. government — announced this week that travel restrictions for the U.S.-Canadian border would be extended and remain in place until at least July 21. Only essential cross-border travel is allowed. Canada made one notable, if limited, exception: Canadian citizens and permanent residents in the U.S. can return to Canada — without having to be tested and quarantined for up to 14 days — as long as they can show proof of full immunization.

The travel restrictions’ extension is more than an inconvenience for many in communities on both sides of the 5,525-mile border, but is especially confining and demoralizing for the Washington state town of Point Roberts, a six-square-mile protuberance of land below the 49th parallel that can be reached only by boat or by crossing the border into British Columbia.
